The Launch of the AMEC Mentoring Programme1st February 2021/in News, Special Interest Groups James Crawford, PR Agency One/by Julie WilkinsonAMEC is today launching a mentoring programme, aiming to create serious change within the communications industry, to increase knowledge and improve best practice. The programme which is led by AMEC board member James Crawford of PR Agency One, is launching with an expert panel of mentors who will make themselves available to support you and your organisation. This programme is aimed at senior decision makers within the PR industry, with an aim to shift the industry towards greater accountability and focus on better planning and measurement of commercial outcomes. AMEC wants to reach senior decision makers and practitioners within agencies and in-house PR teams, so we need a mentoring offering that is compelling and a gateway into the AMEC family and its support, e.g., training etc. This isn’t a mentoring programme for students or training for junior members of staff. AMEC has other courses which are more suitable to that level. This programme is for both the next generation of leaders and existing senior decision makers within the PR industry, with an aim to shift the industry towards greater accountability and focus on better planning for and measurement of commercial outcomes. The mentoring offering is also a gateway into the AMEC family and the support it offers both in-house and agency professionals, e.g., training, videos etc. The program is open to members and non-members. What subjects might our mentors be able to help you with? Measurement and evaluation is a vast area but our mentors can advise subject areas such as: Quantitative analysis Qualitative analysis PR evaluation Social media analysis Advertising and media planning Google Analytics Advanced analytics and database creation (MYSQL) Ecommerce tracking Business intelligence Commercial analysis Data visualisation: e.g., data studio Data collection Reporting and modelling When will mentoring take place? We are opening up applications for mentoring with the aim being that the first batch of mentoring will take place from February 2021. This is our first cohort of mentoring and this programme is led by volunteers so this first wave of mentoring will be a “beta” launch with ten mentors made available over an initial three-month period from February to April 2021.
