Debunking the myths of AI and ML and how to counter them in post COVID-19 era20th July 2020/in AMEC Event, AMEC Global Summit Dr Ahmed El Adl, Katy Branson/by Julie WilkinsonAMEC Virtual Summit 2020 session presented by Dr Ahmed El Adl Did you know that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a product of the 1950’s? For decades it has been waiting in academia for the day that supporting technologies and tools, such as high performance and cloud computing, networks and security, reached a grade that support it in a business environment. That day has come but, in the meantime, AI has experienced an altogether different problem – one of reputation. In his myth-busting presentation, Dr Ahmed tackles many of the confusing and conflicting messages around what AI is, and what it can – and cannot – do. He cites real-life examples to illustrate how hype and confusion was preventing businesses and society from adopting and benefiting from the technology’s enormous intellect and capability. A key learning for the PR industry – one particularly pertinent in today’s post-COVID era – is that misinformation costs lives. As we look towards our world’s future with AI, the PR industry is encouraged to learn from this example and the reputational consequences of over-hype and misinformation. https://amec.blazedev.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dr.-Ahmed-El-Adl.jpg 323 800 Julie Wilkinson https://amec.blazedev.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/AMEC-25.png Julie Wilkinson2020-07-20 15:16:452020-07-20 15:16:45Debunking the myths of AI and ML and how to counter them in post COVID-19 era
